Spark and Inspire: The STEM Workshop

"Have the habit of helping others. The collective kindness of the world will circle back to you."

WHAT IS SPARK & INSPIRE?

Spark and Inspire is a hands-on workshop designed to spark children’s curiosity and inspire them to pursue a future-proof career in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The program provides holistic support to schools located in marginalized communities that would otherwise have limited access to learning tools and resources.

The program follows teaching techniques that empower students to identify the problems around them, build strong curiosity towards finding a solution, work as part of a team, and make them better problem solvers and critical thinkers.

SPARK AND INSPIRE WORKSHOPS AND OUR ADVOCACY

The workshops present observable opportunities in their community and combine productivity and play to make them more committed and engaged in learning and solving the problem. This makes STEM more relatable to the students, instead of being just a subject discussed in the classroom.

We also supplement our workshops with activities to promote the overall health and wellness of the students, and the needs of the teachers. Some of the people who have continuously supported wearkindness are public school teachers. We understand their daily struggle and we believe that there is so much we can do to help.

November 20, 2021 - Barangay Laiban Tanay, Rizal is a seculded community near Mount Daraitan situated outside the power grid. In our first Spark and Inspire workshop, we introduced Foldscope to the students of Laiban Elementary School with the help of volunteers and local teachers. The community is also home to the Dumagat-Remontado indigenous group.

The workshop focused on understanding microscopy and sparking the children's curiosity to learn and explore the world around them. All the students received a Foldscope kit to help address the gaps in distance learning and encourage them to actively find new and more exciting ways to learn.

THE EDUCATION GAP

We believe that one of the solutions to addressing the education gap is getting more involved in the public education system and by offering our expertise and resources as professionals, especially to schools with limited means.

We are overwhelmed with joy from your support since we relaunched our online shop this year. Thank you for believing not only in our products but most especially in our advocacy. We hope that you continue to support wearkindness and spread the word to your friends and family. Stay kind!
